That’s All

Is there no alternative? Isn’t taking off to the “norte” the easiest solution? It is. There is no struggle for change. No one looks forward to making a positive change in their community. Instead, it’s all about making the trek to the states where you will work six days a week and earn enough to make your car payment and your rent. Perhaps there will be some money left over to send back home.
Back home it is such a dependency. Teenagers that would’ve been married twenty years ago are doing nothing. It’s like welfare. Every month their father, brother, sister will send money which they will use to “live.” The corn, the wheat, the beans, are nothing more of an anachronistic symbol of how things were and how once you lived off your own land.
Once or twice a year the town will have a celebration which will bring everyone back. After the ninth day the town will once again resemble a ghost town.
