What is up with the double standard? Major League players get blasted if they have any slight connection to steroids yet in the NFL the same does not occur. Shawne Merriman of the San Diego Chargers was suspended four games for steroid use and there has really been no outcry by the media. Strangely enough it has been fellow players criticizing the LB. Shouldn’t Merriman’s league leading sack total be questioned by the league and by fans? Should we put an asterisk next to his name in case he wins the Defensive Player of the Year Award or if he ends up leading the league in sacks for the ‘06 - ‘07 season?
It’s time again for all the end of year “best of” lists. It seemed as though I had seen a ton of good films this year. The following is my 9 best films of ‘06.
Babel
Happy Feet
Rocky Balboa
Dave Chappelle’s Block Party
Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby
X-Men: The Last Stand
The Benchwarmers
Nacho Libre

I know everyone is on Winter break whether you’re working or not. I would imagine that unless you are somehow connected with the service & goods industries you may not be physically on vacation but mentally you are there. Luckily, I am both (3 weeks). Hell yeah. I love it. I do have my “must do” list but at least I can sleep in. Anyhow, I was wondering if anyone could offer any suggestions for a merengue/salsa/vallenato playlist(s) (Sorry purists I didn’t mean to clump all three genres together). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated it!
Six days till Christmas…
I’m done with watching films that attempt to take the place of factual history. After I saw Apocalypto, I was ok with it. I liked it. It was a different perspective. From the title alone you can tell that there is an agenda, that the film is subjective. The violence is excessive but overall I thought it was a good film. Please note that I said “film” not documentary. Movies are movies. Whenever you watch a movie that touches on some historical event you have to take it with a grain of salt. After reading numerous views on the film by archaeologists, anthropologists and fellow bloggers, I can finally understand their frustration with the film. At first, I was like “it is what it is.” I see now, how Gibson has really done the field of pre-Columbian and Mesoamerican studies a major disservice.

Another game, another loss. I’ve forgotten how it feels when the Raiders win. Today I watched the Chivas - Toluca final instead of the Raiders - Bengals game. I’m glad I didn’t waste my time watching the other pathetic Bay Area football team lose. I think I’m done with the Raiders for the rest of this year. It’s not worth it.
On the winning side of things, the Chivas won another championship. It was a good game. Un cabezazo del Maza Rodriguez tied up the game, while el Bofo Bautista scored the go-ahead goal.
