Pinch Me

Another year of America’s pastime has come to an end. Unfortunately, the Tigers came in 2nd place this year. It hurt real bad watching the young inexperienced Tiger players make error after error in the series. Was it another Bill Buckner moment? Will I hold that against them? Hell no. That’s how baseball is. The baseball gods wanted the Cards to win and that’s that. If it wasn’t for the young Tiger pitchers (Verlander, Rodney, Zumaya) the team would have never even made the playoffs and I will never hold those errors against them. It hurt like hell watching the last out of game 5. It was hard keeping the tears in as the Cards players ran on to the field in celebration. That’s alright though. Who would’ve thought that the Tigers would make such a tremendous turnaround? Who would’ve thought that the Tigers would beat the Yankees and the A’s in the playoffs and even be in the World Series. No rationale person would have given the Detroit Tigers a chance…except for their fans. If you’re a fan of a sports team and you don’t think that any given year might be the year that they win the championship then you are really not a fan. It doesn’t matter how god awful your team is. If you’re a fan, you believe. I believed this year. It would have been nice to be World Series champs but second place is not all that bad. The Tigers are still the A.L. Champs. That walk-off homer by Maggs will live on forever!

I’m proud of you Tigers. Tigers in ‘07!

Adiós Melancolía

I asked…she said “Yes”. I love you Noni!

Game 1: Cardinals 7, Tigers 2

It wasn't to be

Game 1 was awful. I’m not normally superstitious but with baseball I totally am. I attribute the game 1 loss to watching the game at my uncle’s house (the same house where I saw the Raiders lose the Superbowl). Anyhow, the Tigs were out of sync.

Game 2: Cardinals 1, Tigers 3

Game 2 Win

Game 2 was not at all relaxing. Not sure what it was but I had a feeling that it was going to be a rocky 9th. Indeed, the 9th was very unnerving, so much so that I could feel the perspiration build on my forehead. The Tigers pulled out the win and that’s all that matters. Game 2 was a ‘must win.’ On to St. Louis…

Fall Classic…Here We Come!

When Maggs hit that homer I was jumping up and down screaming in my hotel room (Yep, I was at a damn conference!). Simply incredible I must say. I wish I was at the game in Detroit but then again I think I would’ve had a heart attack! I was so happy that I ran downstairs to the bar just to celebrate with some cold Coronas.

Go Tigers!!

Tigers Win!

Thank you Bonderman! Thank you Leyland! Thank you Dombrowski! Thank you Tigers! To think that I almost bailed on my childhood team. I literally teared up at the sight of the Tigers celebrating their victory over the Yankees today. Awesome! Simply amazing! I don’t remember much of ‘84. I remember ‘87 too well. Is ‘06 the year the Tigers win it all once more? We shall see. It’s been an awesome ride to this point!
